Nearly two years after Chase Allan was shot and killed by Farmington police during a routine traffic stop, new evidence and body camera footage challenge the official story.

Was Allan Set Up?

On March 1, 2023, Farmington police pulled Allan over, claiming his vehicle lacked proper registration. But radio traffic and body camera footage suggest police were tracking Allan before the stop.

Walt English, a 77-year-old retired army officer and family advocate, noted suspicious timing. “All officers arrived simultaneously at the post office,” he said. “That doesn’t happen in real life.” Police said Allan refused identification and reached for a weapon, but the footage contradicts these claims.

Inconsistent Police Reports and Manipulated Evidence Police claimed Allan reached for a gun, prompting officers to shoot. Yet, bodycam footage never shows Allan holding a weapon.

“We watched this closely,” Walt explained. “Officers Jacobson and Boucher ordered Allan to open the door, and he complied.”

Activists highlight contradictions about the firearm’s location. Police said it was on the passenger seat, yet bodycam footage doesn’t show it there. “If it was on the passenger seat, how did it end up upside down on the driver’s floorboard?” asked Jose with Utah CopWatch on YouTube.

Experts also suggest that images showing Allan’s holster were photoshopped. “They emphasize the holster, but where’s the gun?” English asked.

Alleged “Execution Shot”

Activists point to footage they describe as an “assassination shot,” fired after Allan was incapacitated.

“That revving noise is Allan being shot in the back of the head by Officer Kyle Carey,” Walt claimed. “The police never publicly shared this angle.”

A crucial still frame allegedly shows Officer Carey’s hand entering the vehicle just before Allan was fatally shot. The footage then abruptly stops.

Cover-Up and Media Silence

Activists criticize local media for inadequate coverage. “Why isn’t the media covering this?” asked Jose. “We’re the ones fighting to expose the truth.”

Legal and Political Fallout

Legal experts and former law enforcement officials label Allan’s killing as police misconduct. Despite this, District Attorney Troy Rollins declined to prosecute the officers, stating they met the legal standard for deadly force.

Critics argue Rollins’ reasoning sets a dangerous precedent. “He’s suggesting police can shoot anyone carrying a concealed weapon if they feel threatened,” Walt argued. “That’s unacceptable.”

Public Outcry and Demands for Justice

Activists demand an independent federal investigation and criminal charges against the officers.

“They have been caught in so many lies,” said activist Cliff Williams with The Vigilance Committee on YouTube. “They’re covering it up.”

Farmington Police Chief Eric Johnson refuses to address these allegations, dismissing activists as unimportant. “I’m not important,” Walt mocked, recalling Johnson’s dismissal. “According to them, none of us matter.”

The Allan family continues seeking justice. Advocates warn that without accountability, police violence will continue unchecked.
